Jason Aldean STOPPED his Detroit show to honor Charlie Kirk with “Try That In A Small Town.”

Country Stars React to Charlie Kirk’s Death

Some of country music’s biggest names are mourning the loss of conservative commentator and Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk, who was shot and killed on September 10. For artists who had met him personally, the news hit especially hard.

Their tributes not only reflected sorrow but also highlighted the profound impact Kirk had on those around him.

Jason Aldean, a longtime supporter of President Donald Trump and the conservative movement, posted a photo with Kirk alongside his wife, Brittany.

“Charlie Kirk was one of the kindest, smartest, and bravest people I’ve ever met. I’m honored to have met and spoken with him on a few occasions. He was a man of peace and wanted nothing but the best for our country and its youth.”

Aldean Dedicates Song to Kirk at Detroit Concert

On Thursday night (September 11), during his show in Detroit, Aldean paused mid-performance to pay tribute to his late friend. He dedicated his performance of “Try That In A Small Town” to Kirk, who had been one of the first to champion the song.

Addressing the crowd, Aldean said:

“I couldn’t get through tonight without addressing something that happened yesterday. An amazing person by the name of Charlie Kirk was murdered yesterday in Utah. This was a guy I knew for a few years, had the chance to meet on quite a few occasions, talk to him… one of the best people ever. This is not the guy you go after, is what I’m trying to say.”

He went on to reflect on Kirk’s legacy:

“Charlie’s a guy that’s going to be very, very much missed. His legacy is going to live on forever with Turning Point and what he’s done in just 31 years on this planet. It’s amazing. Such a tragic loss for everybody. I know you guys have been feeling it as well, so tonight, since he was one of the ones who stood out for this song, let’s play it for Charlie.”

Aldean’s tribute underscored not only his admiration for Kirk but also the deep sense of loss felt by so many in the country music world.
