NFL Fans Want Refs Investigated After Controversial Thanksgiving Game

NFL fans want the officials from Thursday’s Packers-Lions game investigated following the former’s away win.

The Packers left Ford Field with a 31-24 victory on Thanksgiving Day, with Jordan Love showing up to play. But the result was also attributed to some questionable refereeing.

In one instance, Green Bay had a false start on the Lions’ two-yard line, but Matt LaFleur got the benefit of the doubt on a timeout. Love completed a touchdown pass to Romeo Doubs shortly after, handing the visiting side a 17-7 lead.

Replays would show that LaFleur did not signal for the timeout until after the false start.

The Packers head coach joked about the controversial moment when asked whether the refs were on point while speaking to the media postgame.

“Of course, they got it right,”he said with a wink and a smile.

“We talked about it on the field,” referee Ron Tolbert also said. “We recognized the timeout called, and that the timeout was called before the false start.”

Packers-Lions Result Has NFL Fans Ready To Bring In The FBI

Fans have since called for both the league and the FBI to investigate the referees involved.

“MATT LAFLEUR WAS 30 MINUTES LATE CALLING THE TIME OUT @NFL FIGURE OUT YOUR REFS @FBIDirectorKash INVESTIGATE THE NFL REFS,” one wrote.

“Really blatantly rigged officiating in @packers@Lions I would say the @NFL needs to investigate but their refs are doing exactly what they’ve been told to do. S**ts rigged,” said another.

“Refs have money on the Green Bay packers. The refs called a touchdown that wasn’t a touchdown and now they clearly voided a false start that would have prevented a touchdown. Detroit Lions getting bent over. Please investigate @FBI,” said a third.

The Packers moved to 8-3-1 with the win. Still, they didn’t get that much-needed favor from the Philadelphia Eagles, as the Chicago Bears remain atop the NFC North following a 24-15 victory over the Super Bowl champions in the Black Friday game.

Meanwhile, both teams have suffered significant injury setbacks, with the Packers losing defensive lineman Devonte Wyatt to an ankle injury and the Lions losing wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown to a similar problem.
